Liquid Paraffin relieves constipation, making stools easier to pass. This means it can also be used to reduce pain associated with passing stools in people with conditions affecting the anus, such as piles (haemorrhoids) or anal fissure. It is not often used. Liquid paraffin, also known as paraffinum liquidum, is a very highly refined mineral oil used in cosmetics and for medical purposes.
